Improve Transparency

June 20th, 2009 Posted in Uncategorized

Interesting article in the Hindustan Times today. The author, Vir Sanghvi highlights the need for greater transparency in government. In light of the Congress Government’s electoral mandate and lesser dependency on it allies, he rightfully argues that this is a unique opportunity for the PM to ensure greater transparency and reign in corrupt ministers.

Another recent article in the Economist addresses similar/related issues.

what can we do when thousands of crores of rupees are siphoned off to swiss banks by the politicians once they are elected to office.especially the politicians included in the cabinet. the very reason they try and get into the cabinet is to be able to control thousands of crores of rupees that they will be able to control under their portfolios.Mr Manmohan singh our prime minister had raised a feeble voice before elections (because BJP had raised an issue) about bringing back black money stashed away in the swiss banks within 100 days if congress is elected.
what steps has the GOVT OF INDIA taken in this direction.
